How Jesus’ death redeems us
God will not accept us in our sinful state, but he will accept Christ in us. “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Corinthians 6:20)
Atonement for sins
The atonement for our sins required more than the death of animals. God said the sinner must die. Therefore, those that were under the law had to sleep in the grave both body and soul until the redeeming work of Christ was done. With the sentence of death, God had also made a way of escape.
Spiritual sacrifices
“Spiritual sacrifices” are offered from an obedient heart and spirit. Not necessarily something tangible, but the keeping of God’s word in complete submission to his will.
Jesus fulfilled the law
Jesus our Lord fulfilled the law, taking the many ordinances which were contrary to his people, out of the way. But the laws and ordinances of the spirit remain in force.
