Jesus knew that his flesh would be sacrificed for the sins of the world, but this would not be the end for those who loved him. Because he said, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:3)
Will he come again in the flesh? Let the apostle Paul answer. “Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.” (2 Corinthians 5:16)
But Jesus promised that he would not leave us comfortless in our earthly journey, he would send us another comforter that he may abide with us forever. (John 14:16) And again he said, “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” (John 14:18) Not in the flesh, but “Even the Spirit of truth.” (John 14:17)
“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth.” (John 16:13)
“He, the Spirit of truth,” comes to us as Jesus said. “I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches.” (Revelation 22:16) What will the angel of Christ testify to your spirit when he comes to you? “He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” (John 14:26) “He will guide you into all truth.“
“And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.” (Hebrews 1:7)
“But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” (Hebrews 1:13-14)
The comforter, the Spirit of truth, the Holy Ghost, the angel of Christ, all point to the coming of Christ to you, in this world. To guide you and comfort you until your journey is completed. “He that endureth to the end shall be saved.”
“The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost.” (John 14:26) “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth is come.” (John 16:13) “I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you.” (Revelation 22:16) These four things are one and the same. The comforter, the Spirit of truth, the Holy Ghost, and the angel of Christ.
