Confused and suspicious about religion?
Are you confused and suspicious about what you see and hear in religion?
Are you hungry for truth and understanding from God’s word?
If so, please read these few words.
Scripture offends religion
Why should the scripture offend church people? The answer is, as long as they can assign the mysteries of God to a future time, they don’t have to deal with them today. Being comfortable in the bed of deception, they don’t want to be disturbed. Let the light of Christ reveal their works and they are offended. Show them, by the word, how these things apply today and they fight against the truth, all the while thinking they do God a service.
Join the church of your choice?
“Join the church of your choice” is popular with the multitudes who want to soothe their conscience with the balm of religion, but without the price of righteousness. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6) He did not offer a choice of ways.
Man’s wisdom does not reveal the truth
The law had been corrupted by tradition and misunderstanding. It’s the same today. The gospel has been corrupted by self-called men and women, preaching another gospel built on worldly understanding. Unless the Lord blesses them with the spirit of truth, they will never find the way.
Antichrist is here today
Over the years, I have heard it said by different preachers that the antichrist is due to appear on the world stage at any time. A man claiming to be Christ, and shall deceive vast multitudes. All we have to do to hear the antichrist speak is turn in to the TV preachers or go to your local church.
The natural man and the spiritual man
Think of two bodies. One body is of the earth, a natural man or woman of flesh. Another body of spirit dwells within each of us. It is this body that is from God. This unseen body of spirit is the soul of man. The innermost being of mankind, the dwelling place of God, if we abide in his word.
Deceiving spirits
“Beloved, believe not every spirit.” (1 John 4:1) This was not an idle warning, because John knew that many deceiving spirits are in the world. In his day and more so in our day, for the lack of studying and understanding the written word of God.
Jesus exposed the lies of Satan
Jesus exposed the lies of Satan, taking his power from him and he hated the Lord for it and persuaded evil men to crucify him. But he arose from the grave and is alive for ever more, thus making the power of death null and void to all that believe.
False Christs shall arise
When? Are they here already? Or is this prophecy of Jesus still in the future? When we look for understanding from God’s word, one very important message must always be applied. Jesus said, “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63)
Paul preached without charge
“What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.” (1 Corinthians 9:18) His reward was seeing others turn to the truth.
The ministers of Satan
Who are they? Where are they? Do we ever come in contact with them? In many cases, they are individuals that you are well acquainted with, and they are scattered throughout the church world in our country. If you have listened to preachers on radio and television, or visited different churches, then it is safe to say that you have heard a minister of Satan. Whether or not you recognize them as such is another matter.
Are you being led astray by false teachers?
How can you be certain that you are not being led astray by a Bible teacher? By what standard should you judge him and his teaching? Listen carefully to his words and compare them to the written word of God.
Flood of evil
We understand that Jesus reminds us of the terrible flood in Noah’s day, to show us another terrible flood in our day. This flood of false doctrine divides, confuses, opposes the truth, supports spirit worship, and masquerades as the Holy Ghost, convincing the deceived that all is well. Satan uses the name of Jesus, as a cover to hide his lies.
A rebrobate mind
Tainted, worldly religion after the commandments of men, with the outward appearance of righteousness, can fall short in pleasing God. In the days that Jesus preached the gospel, the religion of the Pharisees had already deteriorated to the point that Jesus himself called them hypocrites, and whited sepulchers. Appearing clean outside, but within they were full of all manner of spiritual corruption. Not unlike the worldly church leaders of our day.
Why is it so hard to convince people of the truth?
Why is it so hard to convince people of the truth? Why are the false churches overflowing? Why? Because they follow a false image of Christ. Satan transformed. “The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?” (Jeremiah 5:31)
Denominational division
Denominational division has made it seem that everyone is free to choose the doctrine that best suits them, and in doing so, they have willfully ignored the words of Paul and others.
Satan’s power
How much power does Satan have in this present world? Satan has no power except the power which God, the Father, allotted him. He is sent as a curse upon the earth, for the disobedience of the multitudes.
Should musical instruments be played in church?
According to some religious groups, it should not be allowed. But there are other groups which see nothing wrong with playing instruments in church. Those that are against instruments in church say that the New Testament is silent on the matter; therefore, we have no right to make it part of a church service. But is the New Testament really silent about music?
Once saved always saved?
There is a religious doctrine being taught today, which says that once you repent of your sins and are baptized, and confess publicly that Jesus Christ is your Savior, you can never be cast away no matter what you do. They say that it is impossible to lose your salvation. Is this what your Bible teaches?
Religion based on emotion
Another form of religion is based solely on emotions. If the person doesn’t “feel” something, then they need to pray more and try harder, until a spirit takes hold of them and gives them what they are seeking. Even though this notion can’t be found in the holy scriptures, many are certain that it’s true because they “felt it themselves.”
Obey the word of God
If you believe that division is alright, then you don’t believe the “word.” And if you don’t believe the word, you don’t believe in Jesus, no matter how often you pay lip service, calling him Lord. The only way you will ever be obedient to the Lord is to obey the word.
The bread and the cup
We can sit down at the table of the Lord and eat the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth and drink the cup of the new wine of the New Testament. As often as we come together to eat and drink of his eternal word, Jesus said, “do it in remembrance of me.“
Religious division and opposing doctrines
Why is there so much division among people who call themselves Christians? Why so many names, doctrines, and lifestyles? Why are there so many opposing opinions about what the Holy Ghost is, and what he will do? The answer is because most people do not accept the plain words of the gospel.
